THE SCHOOL OF NURSING AT CVCC
The School of Nursing at CVCC was established in 1963. Cooperative agreements with a myriad of community health-related organizations provide clinical facilities primarily in Cuyahoga County. Successful completion of this 1,200 clock hour program affords the individual the opportunity to take the licensure examination for practical nursing.
The School of Nursing students in the full-time program, class of 2012 attended their first day of class on Aug. 16th, with 63 students enrolled. Twenty-seven members of the part-time 10-12 class returned August 17th. The new part-time students in the 2013 graduating class will start October 3rd.
The 18-month part-time program begins every October. Program hours will be 15-22 evening hours per week (4:30-9:30 pm., Mon, Wed, and Thurs) including every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday, 6:45a.m. - 3:00 p.m.). Actual hours of each part time program are flexible from one eighteen month program to another.
According to the Law Regulating Nursing Practice, Section 4723.09, applicant will not be granted licensure to practice nursing in Ohio if the applicant has been convicted of, plead guilty to, or had a judicial finding of guilt for violating the following sections of the Ohio Revised Code: 2903.01 (aggravated murder), 2903.02 (murder), 2903.03 (voluntary manslaughter), 2903.11 (felonious assault), 2905.01 (kidnapping), 2907.02 (rape), 2907.03 (sexual battery), 2907.05 (gross sexual imposition), 2909.02 (aggravated arson), 2911.01 (aggravated robbery), 2911.11 (aggravated burglary).
The applicant will be denied admission to the School of Nursing at CVCC if the applicant has been convicted of, plead guilty to, or had a judicial finding of guilt for violating any of the sections of the Ohio Revised Code that are listed above.
